A Tribute to My Mother

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and this will be the 5th year that I have celebrated this day without my Mom. Mom passed away in January 2004. She did not live to see her youngest grandchild, my daughter. Mom loved spending time with her grandkids. She would have loved Laci.

As a kid, Mother's Day was a special day for me. Even though I was not a mother it was a special day to honor our Mom. It wasn't a commercialized holiday. We always spent it at home or we would go to Grandma's house. I always made sure I bought something for Mom to show her how thankful I was for everything she did and sacrificed for us 5 kids.

Now that I am a Mother, I understand how unimportant that material gift was. I don't need any gifts for mothers day. Being a mother is the greatest gift that God has blessed me with. I simply want to spend the day with my family. However, if one should feel the need to purchase me a gift, that would be ok too :-)

So tomorrow on Mother's Day I plan to spend the day with Jeff and Laci. We spent the day with Kinsey today. She got me a beautiful plant that I will plant out in the front landscaping. She will be spending Mother's Day with her Mom. We don't have any specific plans, I don't need them. I do know one specific thing we will be doing and that is making a trip to the cemetary to wish my Mother a Happy Mother's Day.

Although my Mom is no longer with us, I find it still very important to honor her on this day. I am who I am today because of her. She is the one I try to model my motherly ways after. Mom thank you so much for all you have given me. Every day I learn more and more how much you did for us kids and I appreciate you and love you so much. I think of you often and I miss you very much.

Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers out there!

Updates

I know, I know, you probably thought we gave up on this blog. We didn't, we just don't seem to be able to find the time to update it anymore. So I will do a quick recap from January....

January, I think we had a big snow, about 10-12 inches, I don't remember, I just know it was alot of shoveling. Laci had a great time playing in the snow! We also had a horrible ice storm one weekday afternoon that was horrible driving home.

February......Cindy turned 43, Kinsey turned Sweet 16

March.......came and went nothing to tell

April......Laci turned 3, Easter, Cindy signed up for the Weekend to end Breast Cancer, Spring finally came!!!

May......the weather has finally gotten nice.

Kinsey is finishing up her freshman year of high school. She is growing up so fast. She has really matured over this past year! She loves school and has lots of friends.

Laci is also growing up so fast. She is so funny and has such a personality. She amazes us daily with what she knows and what she says. She loves to be outside, it is hard to get her in bed at night because she doesn't want to come inside.

Above are a few pictures from the past couple months....
